The Hidden Power of Branding
This is my final major project for college.
The idea behind this project was all about making people aware of the power that mega brands have on you, and how marketing is all about deception.
I created my own version of famous logos and then made a statement about these companies or their products. This was to make people more conscious about what it is they are actually buying and why.
I showcased these re-imagined brands by applying them to actual products that they belong on. Then I camouflaged them with the same visual languages as the original product. I did this because at first it seems like everything in the scene is normal, but with closer inspection you discover that everything is different.
Which is what I want people to do in their everyday lives, I want them to think about and analyse their choices.
Here is the link to the video that was playing in the scene to explain why I had chosen these brands.
(Oh and the cleaner believed it so much that she emptied my bin of prototypes and also binned my fake empty Starbucks unicorn cup. It was a huge annoyance/compliment).
